The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada, responding to a call for assistance from the City of La Cañada Flintridge through Kiwanis member Councilman Donald Voss, presented a check for $2,000 to the city for the Success Through Awareness & Resistance – STAR – Program.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for many years has provided the program for children in the fourth through seventh grades in La Cañada schools. Due to budget deficits last year, the district was unable to fund its portion of the costs, which were shared by the City.
Recognizing the importance of this drug education program for the students and the community, the City asked The Noon Kiwanis Club to help defray a portion of the costs of maintaining this drug awareness program.
