It was all about dogs at Button Nose Pet Supply Shop on June 21. The La Cañada shop held an adoption fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA made sure to stop by. The Humane Society/SPCA had its trailer in front of the store as well as setting up booths in front of the shop’s entrance. The booths provided information to patrons to educate them on what the Humane Society/SPCA offers from adoptions to spay and neutering services. The Pasadena Humane Society/SPCA also brought some dogs that were ready for adoption. Volunteers sat outside the trailer, petting dogs and telling passersby about the dogs’ adoption information.
Pasadena Humane Society/SPCA supporters go to pet stores and animal events to help adopt out the many dogs they have in their shelter. Button Nose has hosted a few adoption fairs, the most recent in February. The June event was rewarding for one family: by early afternoon, one dog had already been adopted and another was being considered.
Button Nose Pet Supply Shop owner Christina Lee asks the Humane Society/SPCA to her visit store every few months. Not only does she want dogs to be adopted but she also wants to introduce their owners to quality, healthy food for their pets. However, Lee said her primary goal is “to help dogs.”
In addition to the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA, Button Nose teamed with The Smile Specialist to provide low-cost teeth cleaning and veterinary services. The Smile Specialist will be at Button Nose the fourth Friday of each month.
