Guests of the Glendale-Crescenta Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross annual wine, chocolate and cheese tasting event on June 20 were greeted warmly at the picturesque court at the Forest Lawn Museum. Not only was the weather a pleasant temperature, but those from the chapter and the hosting venue were welcoming as well. Ticketholders to the fundraiser had an opportunity to compare an array of carefully selected wines from California and around the world. In addition, imported cheeses, an array of Mignon fine chocolates, and light appetizers by Chin Chin Catering were available.
Chapter Executive Officer Ron Farina thanked everyone for supporting the annual fundraiser then introduced Fritz Coleman, popular Channel 4 weatherman, standup comedian and longtime supporter of the Red Cross. Coleman took the mic to remind guests of the importance of the Red Cross and the work that is done by the agency.
In addition to the tasting of wine, chocolate and cheese, guests had the opportunity to take part in a drawing and a silent auction, many of the items contributed by local businesses and community members.
A bonus of the evening was visiting the exhibit “Art of the Brick,” sculptures made entirely out of Lego® bricks by Nathan Sawaya.
All proceeds benefitted the American Red Cross, furthering its ability to help communities in Glendale and the Crescenta Valley in times of unexpected emergencies.
