“It went fabulous,” said Robert Wollenwebber, president of the Crescenta Valley Fireworks Association, summarizing how well the annual fireworks display went.
Fireworks lit up the sky over Crescenta Valley as full dark came upon the valley. Wollenwebber said the July 4th show had the largest participation in the event’s history, he thinks due to the cancellation of Sunland/Tujunga fireworks event.
“There were a few hiccups to iron out,” he said.
There was a pause at the end of the fireworks show when it appeared the event was over, but then a lot of fireworks were released. But Wollenwebber said the overall show was great.
“We are extremely pleased at how it went,” he said. He added that volunteers who helped the event throughout the day were crucial to its success.
“I would absolutely like to thank Prom Plus [Club] and the La Crescenta Woman’s Club,” he said. “They were key to the show running smoothly.”
Prom Plus Club organized the youth volunteers who helped set up and tear down the event.
“Especially at the end, those kids came in and really helped,” he said.
There are a lot of chairs, tables, booths and other items that have to be packed up at the end of the night. Many of the adult volunteers have been on-site from early in the morning to late at night and are pretty tired by the time it is time to wrap everything up.
The event does not make enough funds via ticket sales to pay for the entire fireworks event; therefore, the Association depends on donations from the community. To donate, please visit www.cvfireworks.com.
