The “Small but Mighty” Sunland/Tujunga/Shadow Hills Rotary Club announced the winners of the Best Patriotic Decoration Contest in honor of Independence Day.
Competition was stiff and the winners included Indiana Jones, an adorable pooch that won in the category of Best Patriotic Pet Costume. Indy took in an astounding 75 stars, followed by Archie with 61 stars. This category was the most popular with voters proving that every dog has his day.
The second most popular category was Best Patriotic Car with five submissions, and the Rotary Club witnessed something that will never be seen in NASCAR: a tie for first place! Both Deanna Barker and Mercedes del Castillo earned 10 stars for their hot rods – without cutting their tires or putting their car in the wall.
In the third category, Best Patriotic Decorated Home, Michelle Ramage won for her yesteryear home and in the fourth category, dedicated to our nation’s future leaders, the winner was Karen Page for Best Patriotic Children’s Costume.
All winners will be receiving $50 gift certificates to Caruso’s Italian Restaurant in Tujunga, Back Door Bakery in Sunland and a six-month subscription to CV Weekly.
The Sunland/Tujunga/Shadow Hills Rotary Club thanks all participants and especially its contest co-sponsor, CV Weekly.
