The Verdugo Hills Women’s Chorus (VHWC), a member of California Women’s Chorus, Inc., will hold its annual Summer Fun Rehearsal on July 22 at 9 a.m. at the La Crescenta Presbyterian Church, 2902 Montrose Ave. in La Crescenta.

The VHWC has entertained in the Verdugo/foothills community for more than 60 years. Currently the chorus has a membership of 25 to 30 friendly, energetic and dedicated singers led by Sharon Schlarb, its choral director since 1999. Schlarb continues to present the singers with a challenging yet fun and enjoyable variety of songs for their performances. She and Diana Tyson, the VHWC’s talented accompanist, are described as the “duo that can’t be beat.”

The VHWC is a group of women of different ages and interests who come together on Monday mornings with a common bond – the love of music and the desire to sing. The chorus is not affiliated with the church and on Monday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. from September to June.

Chorus members reside in La Crescenta, La Cañada, Pasadena, Altadena, Glendale, Burbank and Sunland-Tujunga. The chorus performs in a variety of venues, among them women’s clubs, senior organizations and retirement living facilities throughout the Verdugo Hills and surrounding communities.

The goal of the Verdugo Hills Women’s Chorus is consistent with that of CWC – to encourage choral singing among women and to raise funds for music awards for vocal students. Any lady who likes to sing is welcome to join; there are no auditions, so joins the VCWC for coffee and cake, and lend your voice to experience the joy of singing.
