When the Women’s Auxiliary of the Church of Scientology of the Valley called Ronald McDonald House many years ago to see what they could donate, they expected to hear “blankets” or “clothing.” What they heard was far from it – the most needed items were cereal and toilet paper. Over the years their “wish list” has changed: now “cleaning supplies” tops the list for the Ronald McDonald House in Pasadena.
House Manager Vicki Garcia for the Pasadena facility gladly received a carload of cleaning supplies on Thursday from Women’s Auxiliary member Carol Austin.
“Because their facility houses families of children undergoing major treatment in nearby hospitals, they are diligent about cleanliness,” said Austin. “We are happy to help the families with this donation of cleaning supplies.”
Ronald McDonald House in Pasadena primarily works with local hospitals such as Huntington Hospital in Pasadena and Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles in providing housing for families of critically ill children.
The Church of Scientology is a leader in social reform activities, including drug education, drug- and criminal-rehabilitation programs, literacy awareness and human rights issues.
