Glendale Arts Appoints Elissa Glickman CEO

On July 10, the Glendale Arts board of directors announced the appointment of Elissa Glickman as the organization’s new chief executive officer. Glickman has been serving as the organization’s interim CEO since Feb. 1, 2012. She has been with the organization since 2004, first as the non-profit’s director of Marketing and Resource Development and later as the general manager.

During her tenure with Glendale Arts, Glickman has been primarily responsible for all of the organization’s marketing, fundraising, community outreach and programming, as well as overseeing the Theatre’s rental and box office departments. Under her leadership, Glendale Arts launched the GA Community website and ticket services program, Glendale Pops Orchestra and I Heart Glendale Arts campaign.

“Elissa is well respected in the community, understands the operation and is up to the challenges that lay ahead,” stated James Wilke, chair of the Glendale Arts board. “Her strength is building relationships and partnerships that are mutually beneficial to our organization and the community. We have every confidence in her ability to lead Glendale Arts.”

“I am honored to have an opportunity to serve the City of Glendale by continuing to manage its greatest asset – the Alex Theatre – and lead Glendale Arts through the next chapter of its evolution,” stated Glickman.

An active member of the Glendale community, Glickman is the chair of the Communications Committee for the Glendale Kiwanis Club and secretary of the Downtown Merchants Association Board and previously served as the co-chair of the Glendale Unified School District’s Arts Strategic Planning Committee, among others.

The mission of Glendale Arts is to preserve and operate the historic Alex Theatre as a performing arts and entertainment center, to provide resources to foster and strengthen the capacity of artists and arts organizations, and to improve the economic vitality and quality of life of the community by offering programs of cultural and educational value.
