Thanks to the major tournament sponsors, The Cal Tech Employee Credit Union and Xerox, the event raised almost $15,000 that will be split between the two organizations.
Shooting the low score of 53 was the team of Spina, Reeve, Walls and Dabiri – the low gross champions. The team of Rick Dinger, Kris Hons, Randy Stevenson and Clay Ojeda won the low net prize. The team of John Brittain, Jeff Chan, Holly Heurkins and Ian Martin won the mixed flight. Men’s long drive champion was GCC golfer Michael Timpson and the ladies champion was Holly Heurkins.
The Desi Geestman Foundation is an organization that helps children cope with cancer. Volunteer members of the Foundation will throw birthday parties for the children, provide phone cards so they can call their parents, give gas cards, food certificates and many other items to the parents when they visit their child that help the entire family during the period of treatment.
The Foundation takes care of people who don’t qualify for state assistance but are struggling financially due to the child’s illness allowing parents to focus on their child’s recovery.
The Sheriff Support Group is also non-profit organization that is run by volunteer members of the community. Fundraiser proceeds are used to support the Crescenta Valley Sheriff Station and its deputies. The funds raised help purchase specialized equipment and fund other programs necessary to operations at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Tournament Chairman Rick Dinger said “We had wonderful support from our local community to make this year’s event a great success”
