The La Cañada Flintridge Community Center has welcomed Betsy Ferguson as its new executive director. She brings a wealth of experience to the table, including project management, business development, operations, event planning, non-profit fundraising and the arts.
One of Ferguson’s first priorities is to create a robust senior program, providing a hub of activities for older adults. New programming might include yoga, lifelong learning lectures, book clubs, coffee chats and bingo. Ferguson would also like to increase options for teens with events like outdoor movie nights, game days and table tennis tournaments being considered.
Ferguson began her career as a public outreach and event specialist at NASA-Ames Research Center. She later founded Master Plans Events and then The Home Artisan, a home staging company. A longtime resident of the La Cañada-La Crescenta area, she also has over 13 years of volunteer leadership in local public schools.
“I wore many hats as a small business owner over 20 years, and that experience is proving very helpful in my new role,” Ferguson said. “I thrive on taking a program from inception to prosperity and look forward to using my background and experience to move the Center into its next chapter of success.”
