Rose Bowl Aquatics Center Celebrates Olympic Day

John Naber, RBAC founding board member and 1976 Olympic gold medalist, celebrates Olympic Day with members of the RBAC Swim Team.

The Rose Bowl Aquatics Center Swim Team welcomed 1976 Olympic gold medalist and RBAC founding board member John Naber to celebrate Olympic Day on Thursday, June 23.

Naber addressed over 50 members of the RBAC swim team, speaking about stroke technique and offering mental tips to prepare for racing. He answered questions about his experience competing in the 1976 Olympic games in Montreal, Canada and presented the RBAC with a proclamation from the City of Pasadena announcing that June 23 was officially Olympic Day.     The day ended with Naber presenting every swim team member with an official Olympic committee hat and vest.

“The goal of Olympic Day – to promote fair play and respect – is everything that the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center values,” stated Kurt Knop, RBAC executive director. “We encourage all team members to be the best he/she can be and achieve his/her full potential. We look forward to celebrating Olympic Day every year!”
