Despina Kayichian, MD, was recently appointed as Glendale Adventist Medical Center’s vice president of Medical Affairs and Quality. She began her new role on May 2.
“I’m excited about the opportunity of helping the hospital continue on its path of consistently providing high-quality, compassionate care, with a focus on patient safety,” said Dr. Kayichian. “In recent years, this path has transcended the hospital walls; therefore it is essential we coordinate transition of care across the continuum of care in the most safe, efficient, and patient family centered manner maintaining transparency in all processes.”
Prior to her appointment, Dr. Kayichian was chief medical officer of the Federally Qualified Health Center, Venice Family Clinic, where she continues to volunteer.
Born in Lebanon, Dr. Kayichian immigrated to the U.S. in 1988. She completed medical training and entered private practice in Glendale, specializing in nephrology (diseases of the kidney). She is also board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology, and is a certified professional in health care quality.
In her spare time, Dr. Kayichian enjoys skiing and road and mountain biking.
