Kristen L. Hicks and Lois Y. Lee of La Crescenta have been named to the Whitworth University Laureate Society for spring semester 2015.
The students qualified for the academic honor society by maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.75 during the semester.

Located in Spokane, Washington, Whitworth is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church. The university, which has an enrollment of nearly 3,000 students, offers 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Saint Mary’s College named Katherine Johnson from La Cañada to the dean’s list for the spring 2015 semester. To earn academic honors at Saint Mary’s, a student must achieve a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale, have at least 12 graded credit hours, no incompletes, and no grades lower than a C.

Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, is a four-year, Catholic, residential, women’s liberal arts college offering five bachelor’s degrees and more than 30 major areas of study, such as business, nursing, art, chemistry, and social work.

Cali King of La Crescenta was among 34 San Diego State University student athletes named 2014-15 Mountain West Scholar-Athletes surpassing last season’s total by one when it had 33 honorees.

King is a member of SDSU’s track team and a kinesiology major.

The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors. To be eligible for selection, student athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in a Mountain West-sponsored sport.

The scholar athlete announcement was made days after a school record 69 Aztecs were named to the spring 2015 Mountain West All-Academic Team.

Cara Melissa DeCaro of Tujunga was among the 544 graduates awarded diplomas at Denison University’s 174th commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 16. DeCaro earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in sociology and anthropology and in international studies and was a recipient of the Tyree/Parajon Scholarship. DeCaro studied abroad with the Philadelphia Center Program and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Anna Arya of La Cañada has been awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, magna cum laude from Whitworth University.

Serra Park of La Cañada Flintridge graduated from Worcester Academy on June 5, one 184 seniors graduating.

Gwendolyn Mathias of Sunland, daughter of Tani and Martin Mathias, recently graduated from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. Mathias majored in accounting and business administration. She participated in women’s varsity swimming & diving.

Hartwick College is a private liberal arts and sciences college of 1,500 students.

Worcester Academy announced its second semester honor roll and headmaster’s list for the 2014-15 school year. The honors represent the achievements that each student has earned through academic excellence, challenge, and personal growth.

Among the students are Serra Park, grade 12, honor roll and Sewon Park grade 10, headmaster’s list. Both are from La Cañada Flintridge.
