The JLP Hosting Open House for Prospective New Members

The Junior League of Pasadena, Inc. (JLP) is now accepting new members for the 2017-18 training class, which begins in September. An informational open house will be held for prospective members interested in joining on Saturday, Sept. 9 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Junior League of Pasadena headquarters at 149 S. Madison Ave. in Pasadena. RVSP at https://bit.ly/jlpopenhouse.

Active members will be present to introduce prospective members to the community programs, training and volunteer development opportunities in which they will participate throughout the year.

“The Junior League of Pasadena is unique [because] it is able to provide ways for women to make friends and network in a fun environment, [in addition to] providing leadership and training opportunities, all while giving back to the community and promoting voluntarism,” said Jessica Torres, New Member Committee chair.

The newest training class was welcomed into the leadership and training organization at its annual meeting on May 23 at Cafe Santorini. These 20 members have completed a nine-month volunteer training program that included learning about the 91-year history of the JLP, participating in ongoing volunteer initiatives with community partners and, most recently, developing and launching PasadenaHelp.org, which is an interactive online resource directory connecting community members to services and nonprofits in the greater San Gabriel Valley area. The launch event for the website on May 11 at Pasadena City Hall was a great success with attendees from both the community and multiple non-profit agencies.
