When the COVID-19 pandemic first appeared in the Los Angeles area in March, Dignity Health – Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center (GMHHC) took appropriate steps to prepare for the potential influx of patients. Hospitals incurred significant expenses to sustain staffing, build surge capacity and secure equipment, while canceling most of its scheduled procedures.
Knowing how critical its philanthropy efforts during the pandemic would be, Glendale Memorial Health Foundation created the Emergency Response/COVID-19 Fund. This fund provides for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other necessary resources to support the hospital and community during this difficult time.
“Receiving this $100,000 charitable donation from the S.H. Ho Foundation is a reminder that Glendale Memorial Hospital has more than the support of our private Foundation, it has the support of our whole community,” stated Jill Welton, GMHHC president.
David Ho, governor of the S.H. Ho Foundation added, “The Ho Foundation is proud to continue our support of Glendale Memorial. We are extremely grateful for their amazing caregivers who are here for us in our community during these challenging times. As Sandra Day O’Connor said, ‘Be grateful and show it.’ This gift is a gift of gratitude.”
