With 71 years in business at the same location, local meat market Harmony Farms has realized one thing – it is its loyal customer base that keeps the store around.
Founded sometime around 1948 as La Crescenta Meat Lockers, the name was changed to Harmony Farms in 1972 when current owner Sonny Cabrales took over. And to celebrate the 71st anniversary, Cabrales and his staff held a customer appreciation day on Sept. 1.
“We did this a couple of years ago, but last year we skipped and now we’re doing it again,” Cabrales said. “We want to thank all our customers who support us, the businesses and the community.”
Harmony Farms brought in Slabs BBQ to smoke up some short ribs and baby back pork ribs, which were given out as samples to the shoppers as an example of what can be done with prime Harris Ranch meat available at Harmony Farms. In addition, shoppers received a 10% discount on any meat purchases, just in time for the Labor Day holiday that weekend.
