La Cañada Kiwanis Holds 15th Annual Wine & Gourmet Food Event

Al and Carol Magee were among the many who attended last year’s event.

Kiwanis Club of La Cañada will be celebrating its 15th Annual Wine & Gourmet Food Tasting event along with a premium wine auction at Memorial Park on Sunday, Sept. 24. This annual event is presented by the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada, the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce and, new this year, Rosso Wine Shop.

Wine enthusiasts will enjoy sips from many different regions and will be able to taste from cabernets to chardonnays, just to name a few. Over 20 gourmet restaurants and caterers from the area will also be on-site providing ticketholders with a sample of their prized dishes.

Advance tickets are on sale for $50 and then are $60 at the gate. When guests arrive they are greeted with a wine glass and appetizer tray. Attendees can also participate in the Kiwanis Club premium wine silent auction, which includes many boutique and hard-to-find wines along with some traditional favorites.

This event is coordinated by Mary Gant and Clyde Hemphill of the La Cañada Kiwanis.

“My personal opinion is it’s the most fun you will have in an afternoon for $50,” Gant said. “[This is an] adult event where you can go and you get to socialize with your friends, you get to sample the restaurants and caterers in the area, and you also get to sample wines.”

Tickets are on sale now at the La Cañada Kiwanis website at www.lacanadakiwanis.org.

The club meets every Wednesday at noon at Descanso Gardens and new members are always welcome. http://www.lacanadakiwanis.org
