On Sunday the Wine and Gourmet Food Tasting event sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada was held at Memorial Park.

Over 500 guests joined volunteers and vendors for this annual event which raises funds to support the Kiwanis and La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation.

“We had two more food vendors and wine vendors than last year,” said Melinda Thompson, Kiwanis member and Ticket Committee chairperson.

The overcast sky and cool temperatures, along with a varied of silent auction items, encouraged people to stay longer at the event.

“I think this was the best event,” Thompson said.

The exact figures have not yet been determined, however Thompson estimates the Kiwanis made about $20,000, of which about $7,000 will be donated to the foundation.
