The local Guild of Orthopaedic Institute for Children is preparing for this year’s Book & Author Luncheon taking place on Oct. 29.
One of the headliners is Dennis Prager. For 31 years, Prager has hosted a nationally syndicated radio talk show from 9 a.m. to noon on KRLA. He will stop by the luncheon to talk about one of his four books, “Still the Best Hope.” His TV appearances include “Larry King Live,” “Hannity and Colmes” and “The Today Show” and he has toured 100 countries and every state. Prager will autograph copies of his book after his talk about how America is still the best hope in our world.
Also taking the microphone will be Tom Egan, a well-known children’s author of more than 30 books. He will have his “Dodsworth Goes to London and Goes to Paris” books plus his bestseller, “The Pink Refrigerator” available with autographs for children and grandchildren.
Finally, Romy Wyllie will speak about “Loving Andrew,” her book dedicated to her late son – a most moving and compelling read.
Reservation deadline for the luncheon is Oct. 18. Tickets are $55. The luncheon is at the Angeles National Golf Club, 9401 Foothill Blvd. in Sunland. All proceeds of the luncheon go to help orthopedically challenged children who cannot pay for the care they need. The La Cañada Guild has been in existence since 1957 raising funds for Orthopaedic Institute for Children, and again has pledged to raise $100,000 to support a new outpatient surgical center operating room.
