The La Crescenta Woman’s Club presents its annual Authors’ Luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the historic clubhouse at 4004 La Crescenta Ave. in La Crescenta. Guests will enjoy a catered luncheon and listen to authors Diane Vallere, Aileen Nowatzki and Tammy Kaehler share their stories.
Vallere is a former fashion buyer turned mystery writer, trading fashion accessories for accessories to murder. She writes the Samantha Kidd, Madison Night, Material Witness, and Costume Shop Cozy mysteries. She started her own detective agency at age 10 and has maintained a passion for shoes, clues, and clothes ever since.
Nowatzki received her MA in French and has worked professionally as a teacher, college instructor and translator. She has written short stories, children’s stories and essays and has traveled extensively with her husband. She donates a portion of her time as park naturalist/docent in the Los Angeles area.
Kaehler’s career in marketing and technical writing landed her in the world of automobile racing, which inspired her with its blend of drama, competition and friendly people. Mystery fans and racing insiders alike praised the first two Kate Reilly Racing Mysteries, “Dead Man’s Switch” and “Braking Points,” and she takes readers back behind the wheel for the third time in “Avoidable Contact.”
Books will be available for purchase at the luncheon and the authors will sign them. In addition there will be auction and prize opportunities.
Tickets for the Author’s Luncheon are $40 per person. A portion of the profits will benefit the Desi Geestman Foundation and fund additional LCWC philanthropies that are supported throughout the year.
