Crescenta Valley High School celebrated the official opening of its new sports building with a ribbon cutting on Oct. 24.
Community members, district administrators and students celebrated the new building and what it means to have a facility that can help advance student learning in the medical profession.
Principal Linda Junge thanked all who helped with the building including nearby neighbors.
“Thank you to our neighbors, thank you for your patience with all of the noise,” she said.
She extended an invitation so they can see what all that noise was about.
“This building is a realization of a dream,” said Glendale Unified School District Board President Jennifer Freemon during a tour of the facility.
The building was made possible in part by a $2.5 million CTE (Career Technology Education) incentive grant, she added.
GUSD Superintendent Vivian Ekchian said the building was an example of how school communities can dream big and district can “make it happen.”
Montrose-Verdugo Chamber of Commerce presented school administrators with a certificate of appreciation. The presentation was made especially personal for chamber executive director Victoria Malone who is an alumna of CVHS.
The building is located just east of the school’s track and field. The interior of the classroom has been open since the beginning of this school year. It was funded by Measure S and by a Career and Technical Education grant. The building gives CVHS students hands-on opportunity in the medical field, including in physical therapy.
