Authors’ Luncheon Planned by LCWC

Author_Denise Hamilton

Three popular local authors will appear at the Authors’ Luncheon presented by the La Crescenta Woman’s Club on Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. in La Crescenta.

Denise Hamilton, editor of Los Angeles Noir and winner of an Edgar Award for best short story, writes with a keen sense of place. The Glendale resident, winner of Southern California Independent Booksellers’ award for best mystery of the year, combines an appealing protagonist with an edge of the seat psychological tension.

Author_Naomi Hirahara

Naomi Hirahara, an Edgar Award-winning author frequently on best books lists, writes of a “wholly original” Japanese gardener living in Altadena, combining multiple aspects of baseball, Asian history and the hot, dusty Southern California clime. A new protagonist, a bicycle policewoman, brings a woman’s point of view to her accounts of mystery and intrigue.

Patricia Smiley writes with action and heart as she holds the line between the sinister and the honorable set in her urban hard-boiled environs. Gritty and well researched, the multiple layers unfold convincingly.
