The Montrose Shopping Park held its 3rd Annual Holiday Wine Walk on Saturday. The event has grown so much in popularity that the event sold out early on.
“We had planned for 500 wine walkers, hoping for at least 400 to 450,” said Dale Dawson, MSPA business administrator/events coordinator. “We actually sold 567 tickets, but fortunately we were able to supply all who had purchased tickets with what they needed to participate.”
Walkers first stopped at the corner of Ocean View Boulevard and Honolulu Avenue where members of the La Crescenta Woman’s Club handed out wine walking gear: a souvenir wine glass, pour tickets, a wristband, map of all participating merchants and $10 in Montrose scrip. All were packaged in a bright red and white tote.
The holiday wine walk earns funds for the LCWC and is a way to raise the visibility of local merchants just as holiday shopping season begins.
“We heard from our merchants who met many new potential clients, had great sales increases over last year’s Holiday Wine Walk and, in many cases, ran out – or nearly so – of wine and food,” added Dawson. “This one was a home run and a first time to actually post a sold out sign!”
The next event hosted by shopping park is the annual tree lighting on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. Glendale mayor Ara Najarian will be officiating and performers include a children’s choir, strolling Victorian carolers, “snow” blowers in the 2200 block of Honolulu Avenue, a community sing-along and, of course, Santa taking his throne beneath the Christmas tree. Free to attend.
