Morningside College conferred 29 bachelor’s degrees and 121 master’s degrees in August. Mitchell Kellogg of Glendale received a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Morningside College is a private college in Sioux City, Iowa, with a total enrollment of 2,800 students. Morningside offers over 65 majors and pre-professional programs. Harvard-Westlake School graduate Katie Kim of La Cañada Flintridge is a member of the Colgate University Class of 2022.
Of the 9,716 applications to Colgate last year, just 25% were accepted. The average high school GPA for accepted students was 3.8 out of 4.0.
Colgate meets 100% of admitted students’ demonstrated financial need, and 42% of the Class of 2022 is receiving institutional grant funding.
Now in its bicentennial year, Colgate offers 56 majors to a diverse student body of approximately 2,900 undergraduate students and it supports 25 Division I athletic teams. The university’s 575-acre campus in rural central New York is renowned for its beauty and for the important role it plays in the student experience.

Beau Srinivasan of La Cañada Flintridge graduated this summer from Ohio Wesleyan University. Srinivasan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Founded in 1842, Ohio Wesleyan University is one of the nation’s premier liberal arts universities. Located in Delaware, Ohio, the private university offers more than 90 undergraduate majors and competes in 25 NCAA Division III varsity sports.

Lucas McLeland of Sunland was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. McLeland is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at University of Southern California.
McLeland is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Approximately 1,500 students were named to Biola University’s dean’s list for academic excellence in spring 2018. Students who achieved a grade point average of 3.60 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credit units and whose cumulative grade point average is at least a 3.20 are placed on the dean’s list.
Those who earned a spot from La Crescenta were Ann Patrice Gomez, Kiana Karn, and Pauline Kim; from Sunland Christian Leonard, Young Chan Oh; from Montrose, David Yi.
Also, Talin Emmerson from Tujunga was one of 155 students who were awarded the President’s Scholarship – the highest academic scholarship a student can receive at Biola. Each recipient was awarded $19,000 with the potential to renew the scholarship each year while attending Biola.
