Hundreds of folks “poured” onto Honolulu Avenue on Nov. 4 for the 1st Annual Holiday Wine Walk. The event, sponsored by the Montrose Shopping Park, co-sponsored by the La Crescenta Woman’s Club, provided ticketholders with wine glasses, tote bags, $10 in Montrose scrip and 15 tickets to sample wines from over 25 pour stations hosted by shopping park merchants and businesses. Each location served red and/or white wines and appetizers. Complimentary bottled water was also available.

The holiday event followed a similar event held in the spring, which was warmly received by the community and merchants.

“Jeannie at Casa Córdoba was over the moon and absolutely loved it!” said Dale Dawson, executive director and event coordinator for the MSP. “Everyone I’ve spoken to has been very positive.”

Some of the merchants reported higher sales and Dawson said that Montrose Barbershop even got five new customers.

“All positives, no negatives,” he said.

The Montrose Shopping Park Assn. is now planning its next big event, White Friday, which is on the day after Thanksgiving and launches the holiday shopping season. The shopping park typically has a horse-drawn carriage, carolers and even Santa roaming the shopping park streets on weekends during the holiday season.
