More than 20 members of the Junior League of Pasadena, Inc. (JLP) recently participated in a day of housekeeping, cooking and preparation for future residents of the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House. At the event, volunteers were educated about the service that Ronald McDonald Houses around the country provide to families of critically or terminally ill children by offering extremely low-cost housing in locations close to hospitals. JLP members cooked a full “Meal of Love” for current guests, prepared toiletry and laundry kits, organized toy closets and pantries, cleaned up around the house and did some light gardening. JLP members were pleased to help the Ronald McDonald House provide “a home away from home” for families in need.
Elizabeth Dever, house director for the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House said, “The cleaning, organizing and yard work was so helpful! It would have taken us forever to accomplish so much and (they) did it in one afternoon. I am proud to be associated with such a wonderful group of women.”
Volunteers from the Junior League of Pasadena were organized by the Done in a Day Committee.
