The ladies of Las Candelas gathered in November to assemble their invitations to their biennial luncheon/fashion show benefit, titled “Love is a Many Splendored Thing.” The benefit will be held on Monday, March 6 at the Los Angeles Marriott Hotel-Burbank Airport and will feature an expanded boutique with classic jewelry, designer handbags, stylish clothing and household accessories during the reception and after the luncheon. There will also be an assortment of opportunity prizes to win, each one being valued at over $800. After the reception, guests will be invited into the ballroom to enjoy a three-course luncheon and a fashion show presented by Lourdes Chavez. About 650 guests are expected to attend the benefit.

Proceeds from “Love is a Many Splendored Thing” go toward providing programs and financial assistance to Las Candelas’ philanthropies. For more than 64 years, Las Candelas has provided volunteer service and financial assistance to help improve the lives of children and youth in vulnerable situations and to support awareness of their mental health needs. The group of 40 women serves the following organizations in the surrounding communities: Hillsides Education Center in Pasadena, Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services in Altadena, Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services in Glendale, Ascencia (a Glendale-based transitional shelter for the homeless) and the Glendale YWCA Domestic Violence Program.
