Happy Holidays was the theme for the 36th annual Festival of Trees Luncheon presented by members of the Assistance League of Glendale, Dec 4 at the Glendale Hilton. Chair Karen Millman welcomed guests with President Alma Tycer telling the history of the League and the Festival. 36 years ago Diane Thisell was the first chair of the event presenting her tiny Christmas Tree with her husband Rodger creating a wooden rocking horse to put sparkle into a child’s eyes. Every year, they have recreated these most sought after items.
Sally Benson presented 3 items for the raffle, Aqua Holiday Décor, Purple is Great for the Holidays and table setting for all seasons. La Crescenta resident Krista Smiley won the Bistro Corner presented by Nancy Frazee and Natalie Abrahamian.
Thanks you to all who attended and under wrote the many beautiful arrangements that surrounded the ballroom. Entertainment was the Merrywoode Singers with children in the audience presenting the 12 days of Christmas cards. The item drawing the most bids in the live auction was Nics Beverly Nils, a vodka ice room with the winning bid at $570. Traditionally the League receives its funding from this event and our Thrift Alley at 314 Harvard. Contact Rae Mc Cormack to join the League at info@alglendale or 818 247-4299.
