The YMCA of the Foothills hosted its annual Heritage Club event on Sunday, Dec. 5 in the Boddy House at Descanso Gardens. Supporters of the Y were recognized and honored for their time and commitment to the organization.
Tyler Wright, the CEO and president of the YMCA of the Foothills, and Kay Linden, board chair, thanked all those in attendance for their hard work and dedication to the Y. Linden also honored Chris Waldheim who spent his past 10 years as a major contributor to the board and whose time commitment to the Y has proved to be extremely valuable.
Special guests in attendance included La Cañada Mayor Don Voss, Council member Laura Olhasso and her husband Bill, and La Cañada Chamber Executive Director Pat Anderson.
L.A. Times columnist and La Cañada resident Chris Erskine was the special guest speaker for the evening. He talked about the importance of community and how the Y is an instrumental part of the Foothills community.
To become a part of the Heritage Club one must declare a gift to the Y in their will, either through a cash donation, a life insurance policy, or an estate gift. Estate gifts become the catalyst for the greater good and help to ensure the long term health of the Y.
