Members of the local Daughters of the American Revolution, Don Jose Verdugo and Martin Severance Chapters, along with the La Cañada Singers and Scouts from JPL’s troop 509, volunteered at Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena this past weekend to participate in Wreaths Across America.
DAR volunteers joined tens of thousands across the nation in placing wreaths on the markers of local fallen heroes. As each wreath was placed, volunteers said the name of the deceased to ensure the legacy is never forgotten of duty, service and sacrifice of each veteran. Families and volunteers of all ages to came and shared in this patriotic experience.
Members of the Don Jose Chapter purchased over 200 wreaths to be placed on the graves of the veterans. The ceremony not only remembered the fallen it also honored those who served and their families, and taught the next generation the value of freedom.
