Local Non-Profits Receive Kiwanis Help

At their regular meeting on Nov. 29, the Jewel City Kiwanis Club of Glendale donated checks to Ascencia and the Salvation Army Glendale.

Natalie Komuro, executive director of Ascencia and Capt. Rio Ray from the Salvation Army Glendale were at the meeting to accept checks for their respective organizations. Komuro and Capt. Ray each gave a short presentation about the mission of their respective organizations.

The mission of Ascenscia, formerly known as and part of PATH Achieve Glendale, is to end homelessness in the greater Glendale area, one person, one family, at a time.

The Salvation Army is an international movement and the evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
