Getting Off to a Great Start in 2023

Congratulations to the first USC-VHH baby of 2023, Rachel Rose Marino, and her mom Christina. Rachel was born at 11:13 a.m. on Jan. 1. Each year the hospital and our Chamber present a gift basket to the proud parent(s) of the first baby of the year and this year was no exception. We had many gift basket corporate donors including Merle Norman Cosmetics in Montrose, Bob Smith Toyota, the La Crescenta VFW/American Legion, the Glendale Moose Lodge, Crescenta-Cañada Pet Hospital, J’s Maids as well as numerous individual gift donors. Deborah Weirick, USC-VHH director of Community and Donor Relations and a CV Chamber of Commerce board member, put together a beautiful gift basket for Christina and her new baby to enjoy. Without a doubt baby Rachel is getting off to a great start in life!

Emergency Preparedness Tip:

Perhaps the most important emergency advice is to be prepared when in your car away from your home. In addition to the basic emergency kit mentioned in previous articles you should include extra blankets, hand warmers, extra batteries for your flashlights, an emergency signaling device, a hand-cranked radio, a multi-use pocket knife, a window break/seatbelt cutter tool, a folding camping shovel, energy food packets and water, a three to four day supply of medicine, an umbrella, water-proof clothing, warm socks and an extra pair of comfortable walking shoes. You never know when you may be trapped in your vehicle due to extreme weather conditions, acts of God, or an accident … best to be prepared!
