Jeannie and Chris Bone, owners of Casa Córdoba in Montrose, will be celebrating the first anniversary of the restaurant on Jan. 18. The festivities will feature two shows of flamenco dancing at 6:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. (two seatings will be at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.). Alexandra and Ryan Zermeño, a well-known pair throughout California theatres and tabloas of Casita Flamenca in Montrose, will perform classic flamenco dances and music. In addition, dinner guests will receive a complimentary glass of cava (Spanish champagne) to mark the occasion.
Casa Córdoba achieved three recognitions: two readers’ popularity awards, one from the readers of the CV Weekly for Finest New Restaurant for 2013, and the second from the Glendale News-Press as Glendale’s Best New Restaurant of 2013. The third award honors Casa Córdoba’s community involvement. Through the painstaking attention to detail by Jeannie and Chris in converting the historic Zwick Plaza courtyard into a beautiful garden setting similar to those found in Córdoba, Spain, the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce will honor Casa Córdoba with its Community Beautification Award at the chamber’s annual installation dinner and community awards ceremony on Jan. 23.
Casa Córdoba’s first year has been transformational. It was launched on Jan. 9, 2013 and served breakfast and lunch, and offered hand-painted ceramic giftware from Spain. The restaurant grew in popularity so that by mid-2013 Casa Córdoba expanded to dinner service. With the extended hours, Casa Córdoba now features live musical entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings with occasional live performances of classical guitar during lunch.
