First Open House of the Year –
Montrose Village Square
We at the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce have decided to mix things up this year. #NewYearNewWays. Instead of promoting one individual business at our monthly mixers, we are looking to promote several businesses at the same time. We will still have mixers throughout the year, but we are “mixing” them up with open houses. On Saturday, Feb. 17, Montrose Village Square is staying open late. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. you can mix, mingle & meet the owners, discover new businesses, celebrate existing businesses, participate in opportunity drawings from various businesses for prizes and much more. Jk’s Steam, Uptown Face and Bodycare, Thee Elbow Room and Anew Luke Salon will have their doors open so you can learn about their businesses and discover what they have to offer.
We are also welcoming a brand-new business to town: The Stone Femme Studio. According to the owners, “The Stone Femme Studio was founded with the intent of sharing and showcasing the beauty and mystery within natural stone. In doing so, we discovered that fellow admirers and artisans were inspired by the vivid colors, intricate patterns and intense stories of creation told in the stones. The Stone: Many of the stones presented to you by Stone Femme were personally mined by hand in their natural state from remote areas of the California Mojave and Sonoran deserts, and Central mountain ranges – miles from any paved road – or carefully and responsibly sourced. All of our stones are selected for their uniqueness, morphology, color, rarity or elusiveness and, most important, their calling and desire to be ‘discovered.’ Once selected, the natural rock is hand cut on a series of diamond saws, and free form shaped on a series of diamond wheels within our own shop until they become lustrous cabochons, or presented in their natural raw state. We hope you will appreciate that no two stones are alike, and that each stone tells its own story.
“The Femme: We are a partnership of two chicks in LA who greatly appreciate nature and adventurous travels into and around the vast deserts and mountains of our state. We are both environmentally conscientious and collect our material with the greatest respect for the land and stone. Our beliefs carry over to the products we carry and equipment we choose to use, ensuring the highest quality at all times. In our travels across California and the West, we can personally speak to all of our material and our intent is to discover and capture the miracles found that gently tells us of their epic geological and natural formations that are millions of years old.”
The Stone Femme is definitely something you want to come and discover. It is open Thursday thru Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. So please join us for our open house on Saturday, Feb. 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Montrose Village Square, 2418 Honolulu Ave., Montrose. You might just find exactly what you’re looking for!
