We feel for our fellow residents of the Crescenta Valley who lost their homes or had damage this past week from the mud and debris. If your house was damaged and you need help, please reach out to us and let us know how we can help you. If you were lucky not to have been affected, please think about reaching out and doing something to help. That is what the Crescenta Valley is all about. We already know the value of giving time and effort in doing good for our town.
Another way to help our town is to visit new businesses in the area to help them in their first months of business. Join us at a new business to the area, Chase the Sun Tanning and Boutique, for its grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration on Friday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. Owners Andrea and Travis Chase are offering one free regular tanning certificate to every customer with a $20 or more purchase on their grand opening evening. What a great way to get tanned before the summer starts. Join us at this special grand opening event at 2950 Honolulu Ave., La Crescenta or call them at (818) 236-4TAN.
We would like to also welcome Brain Works Tutoring as a new member of the Crescenta Valley Chamber. They are an on-site academic tutoring service for grades K-12, teaching math, science, English and history. They can also help with tutoring for the SATs, PSATs, Standards Testing and ISEE prep. They have small group and one-to-one tutoring. Call them at (818) 660-9955 or check out their website www.brainworkstutoring.com for more information. They are located at 3853 Foothill Blvd., Unit B in La Crescenta.
Please mark your calendars for some great events coming up in the next few months. March 21 brings our annual Day at the Races, an exciting day of thoroughbred racing, great food and great friends. March 24 is our ever-popular Smart-a-Thon, where you do not need to be a genius, just smart enough to know you are helping a great cause. And April 17 is our fifth annual Hometown Country Fair. We are currently booking entertainment and accepting applications for the arts and craft vendors. All information and applications are located on our website at www.LaCrescenta.org. Please join us at all these events or call us if you would like to get involved helping with these events. It is a great way to “give some time to your fellow men.”
