Have you ever seen the custom, hot pink Paper Rabbit convertible VW beetle? It belongs to PR owner Danielle Smith and it can be seen parked behind her store and driving around town. To me, this cute little car epitomizes the standout cuteness and whimsy that is Paper Rabbit.
Paper Rabbit graced Honolulu Avenue in February 1981, the same time that Princess Marcella Borghese was flying Dale and I out here from back East to find a home. To celebrate, PR is offering 30% off the entire store for the month of February.
Paper Rabbit has several areas of expertise. The one they are most known for is personalizing all kinds of clear acrylic items. First, let’s talk about the items. Anything from pencil boxes for school, frames, cups, water bottles, business card holders and more. Once you pick your item, then you pick your design. PR has a whole wall of custom designs with all kinds of themes, like birthday, hearts, cupcakes, etc. Finally, you pick your lettering style for your name. My favorite is the “tinker toy” lettering that looks like doodles and dots. Did you know PR hires artists to personalize as each item is done by hand? A good way to see all of your options is to go to their newly created website, www.paperrabbitmontrose.com. You can order online and have everything sent to you or pick it up at the store.
Scrapbooking is another specialty at Paper Rabbit. I think they have the largest sticker wall in SoCal. You can hold scrapbooking parties on weekend evenings for 10 guests for $250. You get the whole store for two hours plus other goodies. So do stop in, wish Danielle and Paper Rabbit “Happy Birthday” and get 30% off. You’ll be so glad you did!
