Join us for a weekend of Western-themed entertainment as we celebrate Montrose’s 100th birthday!

Can you say, “yee-haw?” This weekend, Feb. 23 and Feb. 24, we are going to take you back in time to imagine what it was like around these parts in 1913. The Montrose Shopping Park is letting all of our horses out of the barn to celebrate Montrose’s 100th birthday in pure western style. Live entertainment will abound throughout the shopping park where we will have two stages set up for your enjoyment. Here is what you can look forward to:
Saturday February 23
Main Stage  (Ocean View & Honolulu)
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Rocky Neck Bluegrass (bluegrass)
2 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Kathy Leonardo (classic country)
6 p.m. – Eli Locke band (country western)
Montrose Travel Side Stage (Wickham Way)
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Cowbop (western swing)
2 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Frankie Fuchs Tribute to Woody Gutherie (folk)

Sunday February 24
Main Stage (Ocean View & Honolulu)
9 a.m. – Noon: California Feetwarmers (country & bluegrass)
Noon – 3 p.m.: Rocky Neck Bluegrass (bluegrass)
Montrose Travel Side Stage (Wickham Way)
9 a.m. – Noon: TBA
Noon – 3 p.m.: Kathy Leonardo (classic country)

In addition, watch for Anthony De Longis who will be demonstrating his skills. Anthony is an actor, fight director, weapons expert, and producer/director. He flew to Shanghai to train Jet Li for the opening sword fight in “Fearless.” He also trained Harrison Ford for “Crystal Skull” and Michelle Pfeiffer for Catwoman in “Batman Returns.”

Another name you will come to know before the weekend is over is Karen Quest of Cowgirl Tricks. Karen is the only solo female comedy western variety act in the country (maybe the world!) who does a show that includes rope tricks, magic, comedy and Lucky Starr, the eight-foot tall cowgirl on stilts!

There’s going to be some good grub here, too, in the form of western barbeque and an old fashioned saloon serving beer and wine.

So, do put on your cowboy hat and come and support your local Montrose businesses who are very key in throwing this party. This is one of our ways of saying thank you for shopping local as we celebrate together. Happy 100th birthday, Montrose!
