Ribbon-cuttings, Election Information and Events
There is a lot going on in Montrose! March is turning out to be a very busy and informative month for residents of the City of Glendale. The Montrose Chamber will be hosting a Glendale city candidates’ forum on Monday, March 13. At this forum we will be asking the candidates questions that are specific to the Montrose/La Crescenta/Glendale areas. The questions will be related to the business needs of the area as well as the residential needs. If you have a question that you would like to submit to the forum regarding an issue or a directed question for one of the candidates, please email us at mvcc@montrosechamber.org. We are also hosting an Election Town Hall on Tuesday, March 21 at the Sparr Heights Community Center in conjunction with Glendale’s City Clerk Ardy Kassahkian. The purpose of this forum is to let voters know of the changes that have occurred in the voting process for this upcoming election, specifically regarding redistricting. There will be a question-and-answer session following the presentation along with a meet-and-greet with the city council candidates. This will give you an opportunity to meet all of the candidates and ask them where they stand on specific issues as well as any specific question that you might have about them. For more in-depth information about the upcoming election, log onto www.GlendaleVotes.org. There you will find bios on all the candidates, information about ballot Measure L, Glendale City Council and Glendale Unified School District, precinct maps and polling locations, videos regarding the upcoming election and much more. Please remember to get out and vote on April 4.
On March 16, we will be holding our Annual Installation and Community Recognition Awards Dinner at the Oakmont Country Club. We like to call it the “Golden Globes” of the Crescenta Valley because we bring in the Who’s Who from Glendale, La Cañada, La Crescenta and Montrose. It’s always a fun evening when you get to see people you don’t normally see and hear the amazing stories behind the community awards that we are giving out. You will laugh and probably cry!
We are also hosting two ribbon-cuttings. Join us Tuesday, Feb. 28 at noon for our ribbon-cutting at Quilt n Things. Lana Norton is the new owner who took over in January. She has made some changes and invites everyone to stop by to enjoy light snacks and to see what she has done. She is planning a Mardi Gras inspired ribbon-cutting so it’s sure to be a lot of fun.
We are also hosting a ribbon-cutting at a new business that opened in Montrose. The Timeout play place and art studio ribbon-cutting will be on Thursday, March 9 at noon. It is located at 3430 Ocean View Blvd., Glendale 91208 (Sparr Heights). The play space at Timeout offers children from ages 1 to 12 a fun and safe environment to run, climb, explore and draw, while parents relax and enjoy a cup of coffee and free Wi-Fi in the comfortable lounge. The studio offers children of all ages and adults a large selection of paint-your-own pottery and fun characters to choose from. There is a cool and cozy environment to create your next artwork and their staff offers expert guidance. Coming soon, it will also offer painting, sculpting and ceramics classes for children and adults, and will organize art & wine events.
If you have any questions about any of these events or need further information, please contact the Chamber office at (818) 249-7171.
