Bringing Business to Your Door in 2020

Last month I suggested four proven and effective approaches for you and your business to succeed: greet your customers with a smile, be enthusiastic about your business, keep your customer area refreshed and interesting and, when possible, keep your door open during business hours.

Most likely the success of your business will depend upon the vitality and success of neighbor businesses. Listen to your customers … if it’s an item you do not carry recommend a business in your area that might carry the item. It’s called “networking.” The more you promote surrounding businesses the more they will promote your business in return. And that’s what the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce does for its membership … we listen, we network and we promote.

March is a busy month. This Saturday, March 7 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. it’s the 9th Annual Crescenta Valley Prayer Breakfast at St. Luke’s of the Mountains Episcopal Church, 2563 Foothill Blvd. Keynote speaker is renowned CV High School Principal Linda Junge who will be speaking on “Unity of Purpose.” Tickets are $10 and available at the Chamber office or at the church door.

On Wednesday, March 11 our Chamber’s Pre Smart-A-Thon Mixer will be at Bob Smith Toyota. It’s an event you won’t want to miss. Doors open at 6 p.m. and some of the best chili in the Crescenta Valley will be served. There will also be prizes and, for one very lucky Chamber member, a cash prize of $225.

The month of March continues with the La Crescenta Woman’s Club “Planting the Seed of Spring” Fashion Show on Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tickets are $40, which includes a catered lunch, prizes and beautiful fashions. Seating is limited so reserve early by calling Emma at (818) 232-1896.

And last, but certainly not least, “save the date” on Wednesday, March 25 for one of the biggest and craziest events of the year: the annual Mary Pinola/Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce Education Fund Smart-A-Thon event at USC-Verdugo Hills Hospital. Who will capture the title this year as the Crescenta Valley’s “smartest” team? J’s Maids? Team Schiff? YMCA of the Foothills? Or ?????

It’s not too late to sign up for a vendor space at the Chamber’s 15th Annual Hometown Country Fair on Saturday, April 18 at Crescenta Valley Park. Sponsor levels are still open until March 13; application forms for both vendor booth spaces and sponsorships are available at the Chamber office or on our website at CrescentaValleyChamber.org.

Our Chamber is proud to announce the following new member: Erick Morstad, T&M Construction, LLC. Erick is a lifelong Crescenta Valley resident who may be reached at tandmerick@gmail.com. Our new members will be formally introduced at our Pre Smart-A-Thon Mixer on March 11.

Emergency Preparedness Tip. March is the month to create a family emergency communication plan including contact information for family members and important contacts to be carried at all times in your wallet or purse.

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce exists for one reason – to serve you … our business community and residents. Our motto is Our Business is Your Business. Bringing business to your door in 2020 is our goal! Please stop by our Chamber office at 3131 Foothill Blvd., Suite D to say “hello” and chat with us. It’s where the American flag flies proudly and hot coffee is always available.
