Glendale Candidates Forum This Monday
Don’t miss your chance to hear the Glendale City Council candidates, GUSD board candidates, the city clerk candidates and learn about Measure A at the candidates forum that the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce is holding on Monday, March 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Sparr Heights Community Center.
Do you have kids in the Glendale Unified School District? Do you have concerns or questions about the future of the schools in the area? Come hear what the GUSD school board candidates have to say. They will be the first to go before the community from 6 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. From 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. we will have the two candidates that are running for the Glendale city clerk position. Then from 7:20 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., we will hear from the Glendale City Council candidates. We will be asking questions specifically about the Far North Glendale area and what plans they have for the area. We will also have a brief statement regarding Measures A, B and C that are on the ballot.
Measure A would change the current law regarding the position of city treasurer. It would change it from an elected to an appointed position made by the city manager, and will require that a minimum number of qualifications be required of them and that the bond and oath of the city clerk be filed with the city attorney. This change to the current law is a substantial change and something everyone should consider before voting. We will briefly explain Measures B and C as well. Again, please take this opportunity to hear all the candidates and issues so you can make an informed choice when you vote on April 2.
Also remember there is a website to help you get any information you need on candidates and issues called Glendalevotes.org. The City of Glendale maintains the site and constantly updates it. You can find your voting location, meet all the candidates and learn about the special ballot message.
If you would like to submit a question, please email mvcc@montrosechamber.org, log onto our website at www.montrosechamber.org or call (818) 249-7171 with your questions. You will also be able to submit written questions at the event. We need everyone’s participation to make this a great success. Sparr Heights Community Center is located at 1613 Glencoe Way, Glendale 91208.
Exercise your right to vote!
