Promoting Local Business & Giving To Local Non-Profit Organizations
I believe one of the things that makes this community so great is the level of engagement by the businesses, residents and non-profit organizations. This community is filled with people who want to make it a great place to live, raise a family, own a business and provide a high level of education for our students. I feel that all of this adds to the success of our community. As a chamber of commerce we are always looking for ways to help promote local business, encourage residents to shop locally and give back to the community in any way we can. One of the ways we do that is by holding events that raise money, not only to help the chamber but to also give back to local charitable organizations. We have several events coming up in the next few months that we hope you can be a part of.
The Crescenta Valley Day at the Races is on March 20. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce and the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Support Group, which raises money to help the CV Sheriff’s Station meet underfunded projects. It is a really fun day and you get a lot of bang for your buck. The ticket costs $25 for adults (18+) and $15 for those 17 and under. Your ticket includes nine exciting Thoroughbred races, parking, an official racing program, barbecue lunch, soft drinks and “expert” handicapping advice from Rick Dinger. There will also be a raffle and a silent auction so you have lots of opportunities to be a winner. The gates open at 11 a.m. The first race starts at 12:30 p.m. We will have a special party area at the Top of the Stretch on the grandstand side.
The next event is the Montrose Brew Fest on Sunday, April 3, from which we will be donating the proceeds to the Glendale Police Foundation and the Glendale Fire Fighters Club to help fund underfunded programs in their departments. We are also looking to promote all of our local restaurants by pairing them with the breweries at the Brew Fest. We have just added a bunch of new breweries and restaurants to the event. Epic Taco Shop, Thee Elbow Room and Frank’s Famous are among the many eateries that will be at the event! Remember this is a ticket only event, so help us keep the line down by pre-purchasing tickets today at www.montrosebrewfest.com. VIP early entrance (noon) tickets are $45 and the general admission tickets are $35. The designated driver food only ticket is $25. This is a 21 and older event. No children are allowed. Ticket includes unlimited* sampling of micro brews and craft brews, as well as unlimited* sampling of food from participating local restaurants *until supplies run out.
In May we are holding our 20th Annual Golf Classic and Scholarship Fundraiser that provides scholarships to graduating seniors from Clark Magnet and Crescenta Valley high schools. This is a really fun event at the Verdugo Hills Golf Course. Your $50 ticket includes 18 holes of golf, all the food you can eat from local restaurants before the tournament starts, beer with your meal, sushi during the tournament after your first nine holes and desserts and pizza at the end of the tournament. There will be lots of great raffle prizes and a hole-in-one cruise to Mexico opportunity sponsored by Montrose Travel. We finish the day with a brief scholarship recipient ceremony when we hand out the scholarships to our winners. Giving back to the community is really a fun and rewarding experience!
