St. Patty’s Day Fun in the Montrose Shopping Park
Our clocks have been set forward, things are blooming and the hills are still green. It’s time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with clovers, shamrocks, corned beef, Irish soda bread, beer and all things green. I am really into St. Pat’s this year and if you stepped into my home you would see for yourself as there are touches of green and sparkly shamrocks throughout.
What fun it is to spend so much of my time in Montrose where so many of our merchants bring the seasons to life. For all of you women who enjoy dressing for St. Pat’s, check out Faye’s and Revelation Tops. Between the two you’ll find the latest St. Patty’s theme T-shirts. They are so cute this year!
If you need a new “do” to complete your look, it’s your lucky day! J. Lauren Hair Studio, next to fab new restaurant Casa Cordoba, has a great offer for new clients. Pick a coupon from their pot of gold during the month of March and win $5 to $10 off haircuts, $15 off any color service, or 20% off hair care products. By the way, did you know bangs are the number one fashion trend in hair this year?
After all that shopping and a new hairstyle, you need a reward. Let the leprechauns lead you down to Froyo Life where you can treat yourself to their Green Irish Mint frozen yogurt. Yum! Once you are revived, you must go to Critters. They just had the entire store carpeted and all of the aisles are chocked full of goodies waiting to be explored. Here’s where to get your green sparkle wig, green mustache and the cutest shamrock jewelry. They have the perfect shiny green shamrock necklaces, pins and earrings that match.
You know St. Patty’s falls on Sunday and the perfect place to start the day is at our Sunday Harvest Market. Here’s where you can buy your farm fresh potatoes, cabbage, onions, leeks, greens and flowers. Who knows – you might even see a few rainbows and hear folks reciting limericks.
If it’s corned beef and cabbage you’re after, head right to Zeke’s Smokehouse! They’ll even throw in potatoes and an icy cold Shiner Bock beer, all for $16.95. In case you are from another planet and aren’t “in the know,” Zeke’s has the best quality meats in town.
Rolando Casas, the super friendly manager of Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant, is even getting in on the act. His chef has developed two special entrees just for that day. “Pollo St. Patrick” features chicken with mushrooms and green salsa with a side of beans and white rice for $12.99. If you are a seafood lover, try the “Shamrock Enchilada” with scallops, broccoli, spinach, veggie and rice, only $10.99. Rolando recommends the special Green Midori Margarita to accompany both.
All of this makes me want to do an Irish jig! Join us in the one and only Montrose Shopping Park, your St. Patty’s Day happy place! But watch out! We’re after your lucky charms!
