Montrose Brew Fest & St. Patrick’s Day in Montrose – Cheers!
Just a reminder our Montrose Brew Fest and Backyard Home Brew Competition is on Sunday, April 3 from noon to 4 p.m. at the 2200 block of Honolulu Avenue in Montrose. We are so excited about this event and we hope you are, too! We have a great group of breweries and local restaurants participating and we are also holding our first Backyard Homebrew Competition. If you have a brew, we want you! All categories of brews will be accepted and tasted the week before the festival. All that is required for participation is that you live in Los Angeles County! Scores will be derived from tasting notes and the top five beers will enter into a second round of tasting to determine a grand prize winner. This final round of judging will take place at the Montrose Beer Fest where the winners will be announced. The judges are local “influencers” in the craft beer community, so you will be in good hands. Attending breweries include Absolution Brewery, Angel City Brewery, Brewyard Beer Company, Dr. Jekyll’s, Elysian Brewing, Fireman’s Brew and Frogtown! We are also looking to promote all of our local restaurants by pairing them with the breweries at the Brewfest. Participating restaurants include Star Café, Black Cow, Towne Kitchen and Grill, Big Mama’s & Papa’s and Zeke’s among many others.
This event is a fundraiser and we will be donating the proceeds to the Glendale Police Foundation and the Glendale Fire Fighters Club to help fund underfunded programs in their departments. Remember this is a ticket only event, so help us keep the line down by pre-purchasing tickets today at www.montrosebrewfest.com. VIP early entrance (noon) tickets are $45 and the general admission tickets are $35. The designated driver food only ticket is $25. This is a 21 and older event. No children are allowed. Ticket includes unlimited* sampling of micro brews and craft brews, as well as unlimited* sampling of food from participating local restaurants *until supplies run out.
Also, St. Patrick’s Day is today! Each year on March 17, the annual celebration of Ireland and its patron saint inspires all things green, leprechauns and traditional Irish fare. St. Patrick is known as the patron saint of Ireland. Although he was not born Irish, he has become an important part of the Irish heritage, mostly through his service across Ireland in the 5th century. St. Patrick’s Day was basically invented in America by Irish-Americans who came to the United States and brought with them many of their customs and traditions. The good news for us is we get a chance every year to celebrate these Irish traditions through their customs, food and Irish beer. In Montrose you can celebrate the luck of the Irish with many St. Patrick’s Day dishes including corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, Irish stew, Irish soda bread, colcannon potatoes, shamrock-shaped treats and more! There are many places in town to enjoy a pint of beer and even pair it with traditional Irish fare or just enjoy your beer alone. In the Montrose Shopping Park alone there are over 30 great places that you can enjoy St. Patrick’s Day this year. For a complete list of all of the restaurants and bars in the shopping park, log onto www.shopmontrose.com. Remember to celebrate locally and help support our local businesses in our beautiful town.
Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce: Your source for all things local! Our mission is to actively support and enrich the community, vitality and pride of Montrose, to help preserve the historic district and small town atmosphere, to promote economic stability and positive, productive relationships within Montrose and the surrounding communities.
