More Ribbon Cuttings in Montrose
Join us also on April 11 at 5 p.m. when we welcome Stephanie Wiley Photography and Thotshop Creative to the area. Thotshop is a creative graphic design studio that has an exciting visual arts programs for kids, teens and adults. Thotshop provides a stimulating, collaborative environment that encourages the exploration and discovery of design principals and art elements. Utilizing a variety of tools, techniques and media, inventive expressive skills are honed and individual artistic abilities are cultivated. The innovative programs at Thotshop strengthen creative thinking, build self-confidence and reveal hidden talents. Owner Carolyn Comer Gmelich, a Cal State Long Beach studio art graduate, developed the Thotshop by following her mother’s footsteps of teaching art and design.
Carolyn realized, “So many people are intimidated by the thought of what makes for good design and art. When we recognize design is everywhere and how important a role it plays in our everyday lives, we are far more eager to get engaged and express ourselves visually. My goal for Thotshop is to share my knowledge and skills with others, so they too can live artful lives.”
Thotshop has a set calendar of affordable art and design classes, art camps, teen craft labs and workshops and also hosts birthday parties, teen nights and ladies nights. For more information, log on to www.thotshopcreatives.com.
Stephanie Wiley Photography is also joining in on the festivities. Stephanie Wiley has just recently opened her shop and is eager to begin providing her services to the community. She has been a photographer in the area for 12 years and has a large portfolio of pictures. Stephanie grew up in La Cañada and considers this area her home. Stephanie takes pictures of families and kids and also specialized portraits of women. Stephanie considers her specialty being able to capture the essence of a particular family or child.
“Because I am able to connect with the people that I am photographing, I am able to get the photographs that I do. It’s a one-on-one connection that brings life to the photograph,” she said.
Most of the work Stephanie does is out of the studio at a location that is selected by the client, but she can do studio portraits as well. For more information, please log onto www.Stephwiley.com.
