Getting to Know Our Community
On March 11 the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce held a mixer hosted by the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge (CCLCF) at 4469 Chevy Chase Canyon. The food was delicious – a beautiful charcuterie laid out on a long table – plus beverages of all types. The folks at CCLCF were kind to offer tours of the fantastic property, giving us a peek at the many different types of services and classes CCLCF offers plus the main room where we met is available to rent! With a great sound system and a big fireplace, it really is a showpiece. Thank you, CCLCF! What a great way to learn more about one of our neighbors.
Another opportunity to learn more about our neighbors is planning to attend the CVCoC Hometown Country Fair on April 26 at CV Park (3901 Dunsmore Ave.).
The fun starts at 9 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m. and features all of the things you want at a Fair: a petting zoo, classic cars, yummy fair food, a pet parade, water balloon toss, inflatables to play on and more! Attendees will have a chance to buy unique items (don’t forger Mother’s Day is just around the corner!) and learn what local organizations are all about. It’s a fun day and an event that is highly anticipated by our community. We do have a few more vendor booth spaces available; call Rachelle here at the office to learn more! But don’t wait – spaces are going fast. And remember: free admission!
Also in March the chamber participated in the annual Smart-A-Thon benefitting the Mary Pinola/CV Chamber Education Fund (pinolafund.org). Held at USC-VHH on March 14, more than 20 teams competed for … well, bragging rights in this trivia contest. The afternoon was much more than a trivia contest, though. We met the hospital CEO, Dr. Dorian, heard some Irish tunes by Dave Winstone, ate a delicious lunch and tried to catch the eye of “Mr. Lucky and the Shamrocks” to get some goodies before playing the trivia game.
Contrary to what you might think the trivia game questions were tough! Congratulations to this year’s winners: J’s Maintenance, ComedySportz HSL and the CV Sheriff’s Station!
And congratulations to the two non-profit organizations that each received $500 toward their outreach efforts.
Finally, on March 27 members of the CV Chamber headed to California Pizza Kitchen in Pasadena for a fundraising mixer benefitting the Altadena Chamber. This was a multi-chamber event and a lot was learned by our members who attended. A special thanks is extended to California Pizza Kitchen that gave a portion of the proceeds from dinners purchased to the Altadena Chamber.
