Scholarship Fundraiser – How You Can Help

Join us Thursday, May 3 for the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce’s 16th Annual Golf Classic and Scholarship Fundraiser at Verdugo Hills Golf Course! Not only does the event promise to be a fun day at a beautiful location in Verdugo City but it is a chance to help provide scholarships to local graduating seniors from Crescenta Valley and Clark Magnet high schools. We award our scholarships to students who are actively involved in the community and are looking to come back to the community after college to live and work. This is a great opportunity to make an impact in the lives of our local students.

Many of our sponsors this year have said, “I would like to make a donation to the scholarship fund and not necessarily participate in the golf tournament. Is that something I can do?” We say, “Yes!” We will accept any and all donations. For more information about making a donation, contact the Chamber office at (818) 249-7171 or mail a donation of any amount to the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce, 3516 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale, CA 91208.

Our golf tournament begins with a putting challenge at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch at 11 a.m. and our shot gun start at noon. Enjoy lunch from some of Montrose’s local restaurants. Giuseppe’s Pizzeria, Sake Sushi and Three Drunken Goats will all bring some of their favorite dishes for you to enjoy. Refreshments are available at various holes throughout the course.

After you finish your round of golf, you will be treated to pizza from All In 7 Stop Pizza. Not only will they have their regular pizza on hand but they are bringing their famous Nuetella dessert pizza for you to try!

At 4:30 p.m. we will have our scholarship ceremony when we will present the scholarships to the winners. It is very exciting to meet the kids and see where your dollars are going.

We would like to take this chance to say thank you to our sponsors: Monster Energy Drink, Crescenta Valley Insurance, Andy’s Transfer and Storage, Montrose Travel, Glendale NewsPress, Super Shuttle, Oceanview Investments Group, Montrose Bakery, Assemblymember Mike Gatto, Friends of Anthony Portantino, the Clothing Market and SIG Property Management.

Don’t forget: For only $99 you can a become member or renew an outdated membership. Becoming a member ensures your business listing in our 2012-13 directory and a listing in our online digital directory. The directory is a great resource that is used by many people in the community.
