Thank You to Our Brew Fest Sponsors and Glendale Votes
The Montrose Brew Fest has come and gone and it was a great day. The weather was beautiful, the bands were great and the food and brews were delicious. The event featured a lot of local small breweries that brought interesting beers to sample including a horchata stout, an American wild ale called Hawaiian Sunburn and hand crafted soda drinks from the Soda Sommelier. This event was a fundraiser and all the profits from the event are going to charity. We could not have done that without our sponsors and we want to make sure that we thank them for it.
Following are all the businesses, breweries and restaurants that donated their goods and services to our event: CV Weekly, Absolution Brewery, Angel City Brewery, Brewyard Beer Company, Dr. Jekyll’s, Elysian Brewing, Fireman’s Brew, Frogtown, Golden Road Brewing, Goose Island, Hanger 24, 10 Barrel Brewing, Gordon Biersch, Karl Strauss, Kona Brewing Company, MacLeod Ale Brewing, Pacific Plate, Ritual Brewing, She Beverage, Shock Top, Stella Artois Cidre, The Real Soda Co., Wolf Creek Brewery, Wiens Brewing & Rosso Wine, Epic Taco Shop, Thee Elbow Room, Zeke’s, Franks Famous, Pepe’s, New Moon, LA Cake and Coffee Bean. Once again, thank you!
City of Glendale residents only will be voting in a special election on June 7 in conjunction with the Presidential Primary Election. Ballot Measure N, or the UUT tax, is a ballot measure to eliminate the tax that is levied on Glendale residents in their utility bills. Since 1969, the City of Glendale has levied a tax on electricity, gas and water service to city residents. The City of Glendale uses UUT funding to provide high quality services for Glendale residents including rapid 9-1-1 emergency response, police patrols and investigation, fire protection, street and pothole repair, parks and recreation, and library, arts and culture programs. On April 6, 2015, the City received a Notice of Intent to Circulate a Petition and proposed new initiative measure from Glendale residents/proponents that would amend the Glendale Municipal Code by eliminating the Utility Users Tax (“UUT”). The UUT is the third largest revenue source for Glendale city services behind property tax and sales tax revenue. The gas, electric and water component of the Utility Users Tax accounts for approximately 9.5% of the City’s total general fund budget. The average monthly cost per Glendale resident for the UUT amounts to approximately $7, which is projected to generate $17.5 million in fiscal year 2015-16.
