That’s right! Even if you aren’t a traditional golfer, you can still participate in our 18th Annual Golf Classic and Scholarship Fundraiser. You can create your own disc golf team, you can join an existing team or you can create your own mixed team. Disc golfers play on the same course as regular golfers. How fun is this!

Disc golf, also called Frisbee golf, is a flying disc game as well as a precision and accuracy sport in which individual players throw a flying disc at a target.

According to the Professional Disc Golf Association, “The object of the game is to traverse a course from beginning to end in the fewest number of throws of the disc.” I think I might have to play this year.

So we invite all you disc golfers to join us and help make our 1st Annual Disc Golf Classic a huge success. Our tournament at Verdugo Hills Golf Course is on May 15 from noon to 4 p.m. This fundraiser gives you an opportunity to enjoy a fun day on the golf course and also help us provide scholarships to graduating seniors in the Crescenta Valley. Giuseppe’s Pizzeria, Sake Sushi, El Charro, Gio’s Bakery and Café, Montrose Bakery, Oceanview Bar and Grill and All in 7 Stop Pizza will provide the food for the event and is included free with your entry! Refreshments are provided throughout the course as well! Registration is from 10:30 a.m. to noon, putting challenge is at 11 a.m., lunch is from 11 a.m. to noon and shotgun start  is at noon. We will have silent and live auctions and raffle prizes and will finish with our scholarship presentation to the recipients. Remember, this is our annual scholarship fundraiser that provides scholarships to local graduating seniors from Crescenta Valley and Clark Magnet high schools. As a local chamber, we look forward to the opportunity to give back to our community, and helping our students is one way we do that. Strong schools help make a strong community.

For more information about making a donation, please contact the chamber office at (818) 249-7171 or mail a donation of any amount to the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce, 3516 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale, CA 91208. Entry and sponsorship applications are on our website at www.montrosechamber.org.

Join us on May 5 at the Sparr Heights Community Center at 7 p.m. for our Glendale City Council candidates forum. This is your chance to hear where the candidates stand on the issues facing the city so you can make an informed choice at the polls.
