What A Fair!
“When someone does something good, applaud! You will make two people happy.”
Samuel Goldwyn
The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce would like to applaud the numerous people who contributed time, effort and materials to make the 8th Annual Hometown Country Fair a total success last weekend. It was a great event and we appreciate all of the people from around the Crescenta Valley who came out to have fun with us; however, if it was not for about 25 people that worked diligently for probably about 3,000 combined hours, this fair could not have been the success it was.
A huge thank you to Liza and Tim Morelli of Bonners Rentals in Tujunga. These owners of Bonners are at every event with not only all their supplies but with sweat equity ready to help with whatever is needed. If you ever need to rent anything, please start at Bonners.
Then there are people like Leonard Ghazarian of Caspian Services, Inc., Marvin Lee of Keller Williams Real Estate, Craig Fisher of Craig’s Electric, Aram Ordubegian (Atty, Arent Fox) and Steve Pierce (of Steve does everything) who flipped burgers, hauled in coffee for the volunteers, put up EZ up tents, picked up trash, and other menial jobs – and always with a smile.
Thank you to Dr. Cynthia Livingston (principal of Rosemont), Bruce Bartels (Bruce’s Automotive), Holly Heurkins (insurance agent), Warren Boehm (Boehm Ins.), Robin Goldsworthy (CV Weekly), Rev. Paige Eaves (CV United Methodist), Michael Riley (Riley & Assoc.), Mike Padula (U.S. Bank), Chris Aristo (State Farm Ins) and Rick Liss (Entrepreneurs’ Source) for setting up, tearing down and everything in between. These people and many more come to the fair early and stay late to make sure everything is done that needs to be done.
Applause goes to those also who couldn’t make it to the event but helped in the days leading up to the event by selling tickets, collecting sponsors and participating in planning meetings such as Ken Biermann (retired principal of CVHS), Dr. Speas, (Crescenta-Cañada Pet Hospital) Lissa Mooney (Dream Dinners), Doug Dall (Clark HS), Shannon Pondella (Surface Fitness) and Howard Hakes (Hitchcock Automotive).
Kudos go to the entire Maluccio family for always holding down the fort in the kitchen and serving up the burgers to hundreds of fair-goers.
A special thanks to Dwight Sitar of the Early Rodders for a fantastic car show. Thanks to Chris Waldhiem of J’s Maintenance for making sure trash was picked up all day. There were so many other people that worked countless hours and helped wherever needed like Eleanor Wacker, Sandy Mintz, the kids from Prom Plus Club, and our emcees Carlos Alvarez, Anthony Portantino and Ross Gelfo.
Applause, kudos and thanks go to all these people and anyone that I have forgotten – sorry, still have fair hangover myself – that have helped to make the Crescenta Valley such a great ‘Hometown’!
