Montrose Food & Brewfest – Promoting Local Restaurants and the Town
Our 3rd Annual Montrose Food and Brewfest this past Sunday was a huge success. This event was an opportunity for the Chamber to showcase the town of Montrose and all that it has to offer. The Brewfest attracted over a thousand people, many from out of town. We had people who traveled from as far as Ontario, Chatsworth, Long Beach, West Hollywood, Claremont, Pomona, Valencia and, of course, many locals who hadn’t been down on the Avenue in a long time. Many were surprised to see how Montrose has changed since the last time they visited.
At the Chamber we were especially excited to promote many of our local restaurants and businesses. Providing food and beverage samples were Town Kitchen and Grill, Basin 141, Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant, Thee Elbow Room, Giuseppe’s Pizzeria, New Moon, Frank’s Famous Kitchen and Catering, Trader Joe’s, Mountview, Rosso Wine Shop and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. They brought a special touch to the event. One-hundred percent of all other Brewfest events bring in food trucks that are located outside the beer garden where participants have to pay for their food. We as the Chamber of Commerce knew our mission is to promote local businesses and not compete with them. We decided to not bring in food trucks for our event, but find a way to promote our local businesses instead. And that is exactly what we did. All of our participating restaurants were happy and excited to come out and support this event and promote themselves. Thousands of food samples were handed out during the course of the event and all our attendees left happy and satisfied, many to return to Montrose to revisit the restaurants, pubs, tap rooms and other establishments.
We also want to say thank you also to our breweries: Brewyard Brewery, MacLeod Ale, Poseidon Brewing Company, Five Threads Brewing, Fireman’s Brew, Wolf Creek Brewery, Popcock Brewing Co., Absolution Brewing Co., Dr. Jekyll’s, The Great Beer Co., Angel City Brewery, Frogtown Brewery, Golden Road Brewery, Gordon Biersch, Hand-Brewed Beer, Hanger 24, Shock Top, 10 Barrel Brewing Co., Goose Island, Elysian Brewing, Kona Brewing Co. and the non-beer providers Rosso Wine Shop, The Soda Sommelier and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. They also helped make it possible through their donations for the Chamber to donate proceeds from the event to the Glendale Police Foundation and the Glendale Fire Foundation.
Also thank you to our sponsors CV Weekly and the Tolucan Times. See you all next year!
